SWFD Angel Tree- The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) has the honor and privilege of

Sponsoring the Caring and Sharing “Angel Tree” each holiday season benefiting children from

ages 1 month to 12 years who live in Walton County. “Angels” will be available for selection from

9 am-4 pm at Station 3/Headquarters, 911 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach. This

year the Fire District will receive over 300 angel names from Caring and Sharing of North and

South Walton. Gifts may be returned before Friday, December 14, either wrapped or

unwrapped, but preferably in a gift bag. For more information or to schedule a time to select an

South Walton Fire District (SWFD) "Home for the Holidays" program-This program is
designed to allow patients in skilled nursing and adult living facilities to go home and be with
family members for holiday dinner. Patients must be self-supporting while at the residence, and
be left in the care of a responsible family member. The program will provide transportation on
Christmas Eve or Christmas Day only, from the hours of 8 am until 8 pm. All requests for
Christmas Holiday transportation request must be received by December 21. If you need
additional information or would like to schedule transportation, please call the SWFD
Communications Center at 850-267-0167.





●Kiwanis Holiday Nut Fundraiser-The Kiwanis Club of DeFuniak Springs is once again offering
the finest quality gourmet nuts available anywhere. Each canister contains mixed Almonds,
Cashews, Pecans, Brazils, Hazelnuts, and Macadamias. The canisters contain no peanuts.
You can obtain your Holiday Nuts for a $20 donation. You may also purchase by the case (6
cans per) at $120. Gift boxes are also available for $1 each. The gourmet nuts are available
from any  Kiwanian, and look for them on sale at business locations around DeFuniak Springs.


●Tax Volunteers Needed- The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is seeking volunteers to help prepare tax returns for low to moderate income residents in our area. As a volunteer, you will volunteer 4-10 hours per week February-April 15th, receive IRS training and certification, learn about federal taxes, add a new skill set to your resume, and help your community. An orientation meeting will be held at Northwest Florida State College Chautauqua Campus in DFS on December 14th at 10 am. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome.


First Presbyterian Church DeFuniak Springs. Offers Kid's Closet- Benefiting babies and young children in thecommunity, regardless of reason. Located on Circle Drive in the Henry D. Mooney EducationalBuilding. Open the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 9 am-12 pm. The closet stocks disposable diapers, powdered formula, bottles, baby and toddler food and juices, babywipes, bath necessities and some clothing and bedding. Bring some form of identification withyour correct address. Families are limited to one visit per month. They are asking for supportand prayers.  The Matrix Community Outreach Center is open on Highway 83 just north of Highway 90.
They are accepting donations of clothes, furniture, food and other items to assist the needy inour community. 892-1090.
 Singles Group- A 30+ Christ-based singles group is being formed at Westside Baptist Church,
located on Hwy 331N next to St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Meetings will be held on the
second Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. Join in for Christian fellowship and fun. For more

●Christmas Dinner-

 St. Stephens Baptist Church in Freeport will be serving free Christmas dinners to anyone in the area that is in need of a meal. Meals will be served from 11am – 3pm.  Full Christmas menu. Come out and share in the Holiday spirit. For more information, call 850-835-3232

●“Season’s Greetings” Performance- East Baptist Church on Bay Avenue in DFS. 11 am.   Come and enjoy the music of the choir and the friendly atmosphere of the church family. Bring along a covered dish to share at the potluck lunch that will immediately follow the program.  Robert Gramley is the Choir Director and George Chestnut is Pastor.

Christmas Eve Service

- First United Methodist Church. 6 pm. Begin your Christmas celebration by attending this impressive candlelight service. Everyone is invited. The offering collected will go to the United Methodist Children’s Home.  

●Christmas Sing and Candlelight Service -

 Come and Celebrate with us the "Lord's Birthday"  on Dec.24th,  as The Freeport First Baptist Church presents "Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem" by  the choir. A Candlelight Service will conclude this very special event. Service to begin at 6:30  PM
